I am a dork. Always been. And my deviantART submissions, if not photography as a whole was always more all-in-all perception than visual art. In fact if it weren't for someone in particular who kept bringing it up to me and encourage me to develop the visual aspect of it a bit more, I firmly believe that my photography wouldn't be even remotely close to the still modest stage that it is at now.

What am I getting at? This image has a story to it. It is basically street photography, taken the other day on the bus; on my way downtown, determined to photograph the elements of beauty of the aftermath of what was advertised as Snowpocalypse for Southern Ontario two days ago. It was a storm that came, and on its way to New York barely hit us causing it to snow non-stop a night and a day.

Honestly, I was rather disappointed with the snow. Yes it was an impressive amount to fall within only 24 hours, but I've seen more snow piled up before. The photowalk I embarked on didn't yield much results, I find, if not for this image here that redeems the whole day.

So as I started to say, it is street photography; on the bus (in fact on bus #7B heading from Fairview Mall to Downtown): I saw this girl sitting in front of me, who was wearing these really interesting boots. Shamelessly I pointed the camera at her boots, focussed and shot. You can see the rest of the photoshoot here: (will update once I blog it)

It took me a while to get to look at the images, but once I got around to it, I felt rather overwhelmed by the potential of this image's mood. Under the influence of Rachel Portman's masterpiece, which is the Never Let Me Go Movie Soundtrack ([link]) I rendered this image above.

I might want to mention that I shot this one (in fact all images that day) with my old Canon Rebel XT SLR. His story is too long to recap, but his purchase basically landmarks the beginnings of my photography. So tonight I was editing the images taken that day + looking through (and backing up) old images. I found some from back in 2006-2007, from around that time. In a way I feel like I've walked a long way from there but somehow only to return to the physical location that I started from, without much of it left intact. I gotta thank those of you who actually followed me this deep into my dorky ramblings by the way hehe =) When I look at the image I am thinking how back then I used to see images like that and wish I could take them too. Now I find myself able to but I feel I miss the deeper connection that I feel I had with the deviantART connection back in the day. Well ...perhaps it's one of those, grass is greener on the other side things.
